Thank you for visiting our website, which we hope gives you a taster of our wonderful club and fantastic facilities which we have to offer.
The original club was formed in 1898 and moved to its current location just into the start
of the next century.
Our club has evolved over the years from what was once a 'gentlemens only' club, where ladies were not even allowed to buy a drink from the bar to the successful inclusive club that we are proud to say it is today.
Our main facility is the superb crown green bowling green where we run both social/fun events and league matches and competitions for the more serious bowler. Whatever your standard or expectations are, you are sure of a warm welcome here at the club.
If you scroll through all the tabs/lines at the top of the page you will find lots of information regarding all the facilities which we have available.
We are always happy to welcome new members and we do have a 'guest' facility so that you can come along and see if we are what you are looking for before you make the decision to apply for membership. How To Join Our Club
We are always happy to accept applications from potential new members. If you are interested in joining, feel free to phone either our Secretary Jackie Robinson or our Chairman Ian Lewsey to arrange an appointment to come along for a look around and to have a general chat, you can pick up an appliaction form at the same time. Once an application is received it is posted on the club notice board for a period of at least 10 days and then the application will be considered at the next Club Council Meeting.
Tp apply, you will need to be proposed and seconded by an existing member and call in to meet a few of our Club Council members. However, if you do not know anyone who is a member, you are welcome to come along to the club on several occasions and introduce yourself to some of our council members who will then, I am sure, offer to sign your appliaction form for you. Club Council members and Officials are usually available on Thursday mornings between 9am and 11am, alternatively,most evenings in the week you will find members on hand. However, if you prefer to arrange a time to call in please feel free to contact Jackie or Ian on the numbers below and they will be happy to sort a meeting time for you.
Our club has many facilities apart from bowling which are shown on the website and our NEW Facebook page. Once your application form is received you are welcome to use the club facilities until your application is accepted. Once accepted, our treasurer will be in touch informing you of the fee payable. (which is a portion of the annual fee depending when in the year you apply)
Subscriptions for 2025 are £64.00 (pro rata) and that covers use of all our facilities.
On renewal (January) you are offered a small reduction for early payment. We offer a concessionary
rate for members over 65 once they have 5 full years of membership. We welcome under 18's who are interested in playing bowls, their yearly subscriptions being just a nominal £5 &
18 to 21 years old pay just £10 for the year.
